Oklahoma Sooner Lacrosse completes the Battle in the Bayou going 1 Win and 1 Loss. Florida was a well coached team, that played an effective zone defense the entire game. A close one goal game at the half, 3-4 Florida, it was tight all the way through the third quarter, 4-6 Florida. Fourth quarter Florida pulled away with a deep roster of over 40 players, as the final was 4-12 but much closer than the score indicated. Goalie NIck Johnston had 25 saves and played really well. Sooners turned the ball over way too much in the clearing game, something that was improved against LSU.

Sunday, the Sooners notched their first win of the season, versus a feisty LSU Tiger team. Also well coached, Sooners got out to a quick lead, and were cruzing, until penalties stymied any offensive momentum. Not once, but twice the Sooners were 3 versus 6 and holding the Tigers to only one goal. Freshman Flower Mound product Evan Arnold was an animal on the face off collecting 11 ground balls and at one point face off one vs three, and won! Tigers tied it up late 10-10 and Sterling Coker from Bray O'Connor finished with the game winner. Goalie Nick Johnston had 29 saves today, all while fending off 17 man down situations. The entire defensive unit of Shane Fullbright, Matthew Cohen, Cade Flesner, Pat McDonnell, Taylor Anderson and Brooks Lescher all turned in solid weekends. Short stick Defensive Midfielders, Kyle Black, Hank Clements, PJ Donatucci, Dan Seelig also had solid performances controlling the face off play.

A long 600 plus mile trip down to Baton Rouge, we had a fabulous team dinner at Walk On's Restaurant, enjoyed the hospitality of Embassy Suites. Thank you Red Carpet Charters for transporting us safely down and back with raining, foggy and difficult driving conditions. Thank you LSU for hosting and Florida for making us better,. Thank you to Mr and Mrs Johnston and all the parents, who made the trip this weekend, to support our Sooner Lacrosse Family.
